MONASH’S Harley Otto de Grancy believes his voluminous locks make him a worthy contender to be named ‘Riverland’s best mullet’.
The Murray Pioneer is currently searching for the region’s best ‘business up front, party down back’ cut – and 20-year-old Harley reckons his mullet’s length and thickness are second to none.
“I think it’s probably the most different one in the Riverland – I haven’t really seen anybody else with a similar style to mine,” Harley says.
“I’m just used to seeing a lot of people with really thin, long mullets rather than something really thick…”
The local firefighter started growing his mullet in November 2020 and it took two years to flow well past his shoulders.
Friends and family have grown fond of the mullet, with Harley even dubbed “Bon Jovi” by his father.
“I’ve got to give a shout-out to my hairdresser Janine because she’s done a wonderful job,” he says.
“I don’t really care if the trend is out of style or not; it makes me feel happy that I’ve got something… I haven’t really seen before.”
The Pioneer has extended the deadline for entries, which now close at 5pm tomorrow, January 19.
If you’re a contender for the region’s best mullet or know someone worthy of the title, send a photo to: ads@murraypioneer.com.au.
Entries are open to adults and children, with great prizes on offer.
