LOCALS and those visiting the Riverland for this weekend's Loxton Mardi Gras have been advised the annual parade will begin early. 

The Loxton Mardi Gras event co-ordinator Chris Sheahan has announced that this year’s Mardi Gras parade start time has been brought forward to 10am. Usually the parade commences at 10:45am.

“We have made this decision to make it as comfortable as possible for all involved and to reduce the risk from the heat expected later in the day," Mr Sheahan said. 

“Please come and enjoy our iconic community event. Our theme this year is ‘Our River’ and there are some very clever and imaginative interpretations of this theme.”

“The program is essentially the same – so make sure you don’t miss out. We have a quench bench, so bring your water bottle and a hat. There is plenty of shade from marquees – and there is an exciting range of food vans and ice-cream available.”
