RIVERLAND has been sidelined again by Covid-19 this weekend after the state government imposed a statewide seven-day lock yesterday.
On Monday night, local football was still a chance to continue “as normal”, RFL president Mark Wright said, but that all changed yesterday following Premier Steven Marshall’s announcement.
Mr Wright indicated that if the RFL can resume on Saturday, July 31, this weekend’s scheduled round 11 would be pushed a week, subsequently extending the minor round and finals by one week.
The RFL is expected to be guided by the SANFL when it is safe to resume.
The Riverland Soccer Association made its call yesterday indicating it would “communicate to all players” its plans when in place, in consultation with Football SA.
All other Riverland sports, including netball and hockey, will be off this weekend.
