Resounding success for Waikerie athletes

THE Waikerie Little Athletics Club sent their largest-ever team of athletes to the State Individual Championships (SIC) at the SA Athletics Stadium, in Adelaide, on Saturday 22 March, and Sunday 23 March.
A total of 11 local youngsters qualified in 39 events to compete against the top athletes from around the state. 
The SIC is the pinnacle of the SA Little Athletics calendar with a limited number of athletes competing in each track and field event.
The club brought home a total of six medals, won by four competitors.
All the athletes gave each event their best, showing determination and resilience, with a lot earning top-five placings.
The club wishes to thank parents ,for supporting the athletes, president Nissa Fitzgerald, and senior co-ordinator and team coach Jason Wilson.
The previous weekend saw nine athletes from Waikerie travel to Adelaide to compete in the State Challenge competition.
Those who took part were Hunter Danton, Liam Wilson, Alexandra Fitzgerald, Macy McCullough, Charlotte Wilson, Jacob Fitzgerald, Arlo Seres, Ethan Golding and Owen McCullough. 
Waikerie Little Athletics competed in 34 events and achieved 14 personal best results.
Hunter Danton broke the record in the Under 13 boys triple jump, winning gold with a jump of 9.09m. Alexandra Fitzgerald won bronze in the Under 11 girls discus, with a throw of 14.61m.
