Lake Bonney Yacht Club

SKIPPERS of the Lake Bonney Yacht Club were competing for B series handicap races five and six on Saturday against the backdrop of a very busy foreshore of Lake Bonney, and the Riverland Custom and Hot Rod Car Club Show and Shine.
In what was a fantastic atmosphere, the Barmera foreshore provided perfect conditions for sailing.
We had visiting skippers from over the border using a club training boat, and four local skippers competing in a very nice fluctuating 8-to-12-knot north easterly breeze.
The race officer set a port hand traditional triangle, windward return, triangle course to try and capture the spectacle of sailing for the public onshore.
The weather conditions favoured no particular class, and a mixed bag of results reflected the day on the podium.
Race five result
‘Maniac 5’, Aero5, J. Eshman; ‘Just’, Aero7, S. Thomas; ‘Pushing Limits’, Contender, G. Ling.
Race 6 had the race officer dragging the windward and wing marks in a bit closer, catering for the wind conditions lightening off.
Race six result
‘Bandit’, Contender, B. Delaine; ‘Just’, Aero7, S. Thomas; ‘Pushing Limits’, Contender, G. Ling.
This Saturday is championship heats 15 and 16, which is vitally important to two skippers fighting for honours of Club Champion for the season.
All visitors welcome to come and see what happens, in what should be a quality day of action.
