In shock news today, iconic Renmark-based business Ruston's Roses has announced it will close this Sunday.

Staff were told of the news just hours ago - and The Murray Pioneer understands the business - which includes a famous rose garden, function centre, restaurant & distillery - will be maintained in operational order while owners decide its future.

In a statement, the business said the decision came after "careful deliberation" and with "great sadness".

"It has been a huge three years trading through Covid and hearts are breaking that it has to now come to an end," the statement read.

"We cannot thank our customers and rock-star staff enough for all the support and loyalty shown to Rustons.

"We respectfully ask that this be treated with sensitivity given the enormity of emotion that this places on staff and their families at this time."
