The Barmera Christmas Pageant, scheduled for Friday, December 10, has been modified and will not go ahead as previously planned.
BARMERA’S Christmas celebrations have been dealt a major blow with its planned pageant all-but cancelled for 2021.
A modified pageant, similar to last year, will still go ahead as a ‘pop-up’ event with selected floats set to parade through the Barmera streets on Friday, December 10.
More details are still to be released, however pageant committee member Kelsey Hogan said Covid-19 restrictions, funding and volunteer numbers caused the modification.
“It comes down to budgeting, resources, and things like Covid marshals,” Ms Hogan said.
The firework display will go ahead as planned at Lake Bonney on the Friday night from 9.15pm, however the petting farm and jumping castle entertainment have been cancelled.
Barmera’s pageant is the second to be affected by Covid-19 restrictions, with the Morgan Community Christmas Pageant cancelled due to uncertainty surrounding the border opening.
