Loxton Shed gets a revamp on its outdoor facilities

A RIVERLAND Men’s Shed is anticipating to begin development on its outdoor facilities within the next month after receiving funding from the local council.
The District Council of Loxton Waikerie donated $6000 last month to the Loxton Community Men’s Shed for the build of a covered outdoor social and eating area, meant to give members a place to congregate come hail or shine.
Loxton Community Men’s Shed secretary Des Schliebs said following the men’s prolonged isolation, it will be another area the shed can open up, and a way for it to create more social activities for members to enjoy.
“We have an area down at the shed that a number of our members enjoy sitting outdoors under the nice, warm sunshine and when the elements aren’t too cold,” he said.
“It’s an area at the moment that needs a tidy-up, needs to be paved, (needs a) roof over the top, and then it becomes a very cozy place for men to socialise, whether it be summer or winter.
“(It is) an ideal area for us to hold our monthly barbecues in that location as well, so it will serve a number of purposes for members of the shed.”
Shed members will be looking to work on the build this month with the assistance of Riverland Sheds and a local paving expert.
