Silo art to soar, thanks to Lions club

PARINGA’S silo art will soon be seen from new heights, thanks to a generous donation from a local Lions club.
The Renmark Lions Club donated $10,000 to the Paringa Silo Art committee last Thursday to help fund the construction of a viewing platform and interpretive boards, which are scheduled to be completed next month.
The club’s large donation was made possible – in part – thanks to a $5000 grant from the Australian Lions Foundation (ALF) and president Celeste Pettigrew said she was grateful for the opportunity.
“Our club members are amazed at the work already done by the Paringa Silo Art committee in getting the silo’s artwork completed and other earthworks/fencing being completed in recent weeks,” she said.
“We were aware of funds being available from ALF for community projects and thank them for their support with this grant to boost our donation.
“We are proud that we can contribute to a structure which will protect visitors at this site from the extreme weather this region experiences from time to time and provide them with relevant information regarding the images painted on the silos.”
Paringa Silo Art committee chairman Les Webb said the committee was “excited” to receive the donation.
“It is important to the silo committee that the project receives community endorsement,” he said.
“The donated funds will enable the building of this viewing platform that will house the interpretive boards that explain the silo murals.
“Thank you, Renmark Lions, for your outstanding support.”
