THE Loxton Ladies Probus Club had a wonderful March morning meeting recently at the Loxton Club, with a new member being inducted, a Life Membership given, an OBE awarded, and an entertaining guest speaker, along with the Annual General Meeting.
All positions were filled prior to the meeting, which much to everyone’s delight, made it a very-quick AGM.
President Judy Falting had the honour of bestowing these awards as her last hurrah in the role.
Lyn Appelton was inducted as our 79th member of the club and was given her name badge, the constitution, plus a warm welcome by current members.
Yae Schoenhenzel, a long-time member who served eight years as bulletin editor, three years as committee member, one year as vice president, one year as president, and four years as secretary, accepted Life Membership of the club, making her our third Life Member, along with Gloria Pluckhahn and Thora Rohrlach, and one non-active Life Member in Pauline Mitchell. Yae received her Life Membership badge, along with a beautiful arrangement of native flowers that were presented by Judy.
Next came another exciting event with Sue Hammerstein being presented with her OBE after turning 80 last month. All ladies turning 80 receive an OBE Medallion from the Club.
Past president Sandy Sheahan took the chair, declaring all positions vacant and then formally declaring all positions filled for the ensuing year 2025-2026.
Outgoing president Judy Falting inducted incoming president Lorraine ‘Lori’ Fielke with the Office of President collar.
Lori in turn asked the new committee to come out and while introducing them, gave them their name badges with their committee position added on.
Lori thanked past president Judy for her 12 months of dedicated service to the club and presented her with a Certificate of Appreciation and her name badge, with ‘past president’ position added on too.
After morning tea, Tony Ey, from the RAA, was introduced by new guest speaker officer Evelyn Dunne, and then formally thanked by member Sue McDonald, who presented Tony with the Probus Thank You gift after his excellent and entertaining talk on rules and regulations for elderly drivers, along with those riding a gopher.
Lori formally closed the March meeting and invited all to stay for lunch at the Loxton Club after reminding members of the March Morning Tea, which was be held yesterday, at the Loxton Country Bakehouse, with the April meeting to be held Tuesday 8 April, at the Loxton Club.
